WChat the sole survivor
Electronic Arts (
owning Westwood since 5 years) is now maintaining WChat directly. According to the WChat login message:
- ELECTRONIC ARTS IS NOW DIRECTLY SUPPORTING WESTWOOD ONLINE
Electronic Arts is now overseeing the support and maintenance of the Westwood Online game servers. EA will continue to support WOL for as long as necessary. <...> Due to lack of participation, ladders for our older games have been discontinued.
This confirms, what Ted told me last month for several news:
- "The C&C ladder will be going away, but the chat channel should definitely be up."
- "<...> the game lobbies will remain operational <...>"
This means: You can play C&C on WChat. WChat alias Westwood Online alias WOL is the sole survivor still having "Westwood" in it's name. By the way: EA made www.westwood.com now the "C&C universe of games".
